Position Overview
As a Group X instructor, you have explosive enthusiasm, and a larger-than-life presence. The Group X Instructor is responsible for educating and leading members in group fitness classes. They focus on assisting members in achieving their fitness goals in a safe and friendly manner. You will provide personal attention and professional instruction reflecting the most current information in the industry while demonstrating the following qualities:

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, energetic and appropriately structured class format and demonstrate warm-ups
- Ensure classes start and end class as scheduled while providing time before and after class to ensure members’ needs are met and answer questions
- Available to assist other instructors by subbing classes and follow procedure for securing substitutes
- Regularly add variety to class by changing music, routine, exercises, etc.
- Offer modifications to meet physical abilities and limitations
- Attend mandatory quarterly, departmental, or other required meetings
- Provide feedback to management on the condition and safety of group exercise equipment
- Assist in maintaining a clean safe facility in the group exercise rooms
- Read all club correspondence distributed to instructors and seek clarification, if needed
- Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines and take necessary precautions to ensure safety of all members and team members
Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) group fitness certification(s) in various formats (LesMills, SilverSneakers, Zumba, Aqua, Cycling, Pilates, 200-hour yoga, small group training or other format).and maintained throughout employment
- Valid CPR/AED certification, infant and child, by first day of employment and maintain throughout employment
- Hold a nationally recognized certification such as ACE, AFAA, ASCM, AEA, NSCA, etc. preferred
- Previous experience as a group exercise class instructor preferred
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office and various other products such as ABC
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to safely perform rigorous physical activity to meet the demands of class objectives
- Must be able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
- Must be able to perform the following tasks: walking, squatting, bending, stooping, standing, listening, speaking, reading and writing
