The District Group Exercise Manager is responsible for overseeing the Group X Department and all programming associated with it. You will manage and develop Group X activities in a cost effective manner and ensure the group exercise classes offered at each Club will significantly contribute to member’s health and fitness goals; also their renewal as Defined Fitness members. This position serves on the management team and assists and advises the company regarding all Group X issues and objectives.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

o Mentor, coach and develop leaders and team members
o Pursue the highest participation levels in all group exercise classes
o Provide strategic direction, structure and oversight to Group X Managers
o Personally provide expert-level instruction of group exercise classes, when necessary
o Ensure continuous performance management and timely administration of performance evaluations
o Review and approve commission schedule and motivational incentive plans
o Manage monthly and annual budget by department
o Monitor the cleanliness, safety and maintenance of group exercise class equipment
o Contribute to assessment and decision making process for new equipment acquisition and studio design
o Ability to motivate and lead a diverse, high energy team member group to meet the highest possible professional standards
o Create an amazing experience for each Group X participant
Qualifications
o A bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or equivalent experience, preferred
o A minimum of one current National Certification (ACE, AFAA, ASCM, AEA, NSCA, etc.)
o Three (3) or more years of group exercise program leadership experience, preferred
o Minimum of five (5) years’ experience instructing various group exercise formats and leadership experience
o PC literate, including Microsoft Office and various other products
o Expert knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, preferred
o Must be able to provide excellent internal and external customer service
o Must have a valid CPR/AED certification, including infant and child, within the first 45 days of employment and maintain valid certification throughout employment
o Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license (with acceptable driving record) and own means of transportation (registered and insured)
o A valid Les Mills certification in Body Pump, Body Combat and CX WORX is preferred
Physical Requirements
o Must be able to sit for extended periods
o Must be able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
o Must be able to perform the following tasks: run, jump, walk, squat, bend, stoop, stand, listen, read and write
