What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Safety Officer (Part-Time) position at Defiance College?
Defiance College seeks applications for part-time Campus Safety Officers. Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety, Campus Safety Officers are responsible for the security and safety of the campus and enforcing all college rules and regulations. Duties include: patrolling campus buildings and grounds; responding to reports of security/safety violations, fire alarms, emergency situations, unusual occurrences, etc.; monitoring parking and issuing tickets for violations; completing daily security log; support the needs of the campus community by being available and responsive to safety/security concerns; etc.
Campus Safety Officers must be customer-service oriented, maintain a professional appearance, and maintain a professional relationship with local law enforcement agencies. The current need is for Saturday and Sunday coverage from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the potential for additional hours during the week or weekends for 2nd or 3rd shift as back-up coverage. Candidates must have the ability to perform the physical requirements of the job and be able to handle difficult situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
A high school degree or equivalent is required and previous experience in law enforcement or security is desired. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age.
