Position Summary
Defense Maritime Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Interim Facility Security Officer (FSO) to serve as FSO of Record in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). This temporary appointment will support stabilization and continuity of the Company’s security program during role transition.
The Interim FSO will provide oversight, ensure regulatory compliance, and reinforce cross-functional coordination to maintain an effective and credible security posture.
Key Responsibilities
The Interim FSO will:
- Serve as FSO of Record for the Company.
- Provide oversight and strategic guidance to reinforce the effectiveness and consistency of the security program.
- Promote professional engagement and cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
- Assess current program administration and recommend improvements.
- Maintain oversight of classified safeguarding procedures.
- Manage DISS updates and personnel security records.
- Oversee visit requests and access authorizations.
- Coordinate directly with DCSA as needed.
- Conduct or oversee required inspections and security reporting.
- Support Insider Threat Program administration.
- Support orderly transition to a permanent FSO.
The Interim FSO will exercise independent professional judgment in carrying out these duties.
Time Commitment & Work Structure
- Anticipated commitment: approximately 10–15 hours per week (up to ~60 hours per month).
- On-site presence: minimum one (1) full business day per week.
- Additional availability as reasonably required during security incidents or regulatory matters.
Term
- Initial term: 60 days.
- May be extended in 30-day increments upon mutual agreement.
- Employment is at-will.
Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance.
- Eligible for FSO designation in DISS.
- Demonstrated experience administering NISPOM-compliant security programs.
- Experience working directly with DCSA.
- Strong executive communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
