Job Summary - Part Time Choir Director
The Choir Director leads Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge's resident choir program by planning and directing rehearsals, providing vocal instruction, coordinating performances, and ensuring compliance with music licensing requirements. This role supports residents' musical, personal, and spiritual
development through participation in worship services, outreach events, community performances, and organizational events. The Choir Director fosters engagement, teamwork, and excellence while advancing Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge's mission, Culture of Honor, and ministry objectives.


Essential Job Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential functions include the following:
 Plan and lead weekly choir rehearsals to prepare residents for performances, worship services, and ministry events.
 Provide vocal instruction, training, and musical coaching to support resident participation.
 Prepare, review, and adapt music for rehearsals and performances.
 Reviews, edits, and prepares music to align with performance requirements and program needs.
 Coordinate choir participation in worship services, outreach events, galas, Christmas concerts, and other organizational events.
 Maintain choir schedules, records, and program documentation.
 Ensures compliance with music copyright and licensing requirements.
 Partners with the Church Relations Coordinator and internal stakeholders to support event planning, communication, and performance logistics.
 Anticipates upcoming events and prepare choir members accordingly.


Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):
 Associate degree in Music, Music Education, Worship Ministry, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Three years of experience leading choir rehearsals, vocal instruction, worship teams, or similar music programs.
 Experience directing group rehearsals, musical instruction, or performance-based activities.
 Knowledge of music instruction, vocal techniques, choral direction, worship leadership principles, and group performance preparation.
 Knowledge of music instruction, vocal techniques, choral direction, and worship leadership principles.
 Experience planning and directing group musical performances.
 Supports residents' musical and spiritual development through worship ministry and performance preparation.
 Comfort and compassion in working within an environment of individuals facing life-controlling challenges, including addiction and mental health concerns.
 Builds effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
 Ability to communicate music direction, performance expectations, and program information clearly to participants and stakeholders.
 Ability to manage changing priorities, event schedules, and multiple administrative responsibilities.
 Strong organizational skills with experience maintaining records, schedules, and related documentation.
 Proficiency with basic computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
 Comfort and compassion in working with individuals facing life-controlling challenges, such as mental health issues and addiction.
 At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
 Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and insurability in accordance with organizational policies if driving is required for assigned job duties.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 Periodic periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer and answering phone calls.
 Stand, walk, and move throughout rehearsals, performances, and ministry events for extended periods.
 Communicate effectively with individuals and groups in rehearsal, performance, and meeting settings.
 Ability to hear and evaluate vocal and musical performance during rehearsals and events.
 Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
 Ability to occasionally move, transport, or set up music, equipment, or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
 Must successfully complete a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background study and maintain eligibility for all DHS background studies, clearances, and requirements applicable to assigned services and programs prior to providing direct care or client services.
 May need to travel between Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge locations and off-site performance venues, as needed.

Target Compensation (Negotiable based on qualifications):

$21/hr
