What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant position at Deer Park Health & Rehabilitation?
Assist in the development and delivery of daily group and individual activities tailored to residents’ needs and interests
Help create monthly activity calendars and prepare materials and supplies for scheduled programs
Encourage resident participation and provide companionship during activities and leisure time
Transport and assist residents to and from activity areas in a safe and respectful manner
Maintain attendance records and document resident participation
Support special events, holiday celebrations, and outings
Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas
Collaborate with nursing staff, volunteers, and family members to ensure a well-rounded program
Uphold a positive and respectful environment for all residents
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in activities, recreation, or working with seniors preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Creative, energetic, and compassionate personality
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be physically able to assist residents and set up activity areas
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing settings
Basic knowledge of arts, crafts, music, or recreational games
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Part-time position two days a week, 12p-8p (flexible on the weekends)
Competitive hourly wage based on experience
