Job Summary
Assists the Life Enrichment Director in planning, implementing, and monitoring wellness and recreation programs that meet the specific needs of residents. Provides support in creating engaging activities and events to encourage social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall resident well-being.
Essential Functions
- Supports the Life Enrichment Director in the development and implementation of creative and engaging resident programs, both group-based and one-to-one activities, tailored to individual needs and preferences.
- Assists in ensuring the daily, weekly, and monthly event calendars are up-to-date and meet established community standards.
- Helps coordinate transportation for residents to and from events, errands, appointments, and worship services, which may include driving a community motor vehicle if needed.
- Prepares materials and sets up for activities and events, ensuring spaces are organized and welcoming for residents.
- Provides direct engagement with residents during programs, fostering meaningful interactions and encouraging participation.
- Aids in maintaining a welcoming environment for new residents by supporting orientation and engagement protocols.
- Assists in managing supplies, decorations, and equipment to support wellness-focused activities and events.
- Helps monitor and address resident satisfaction by actively participating in survey initiatives and assisting in resolving complaints or grievances.
- Supports the volunteer program by assisting with recruitment, training, and scheduling as needed.
- May assist in creating newsletters, flyers, and other promotional materials for activities and events.
- Documents resident participation and progress as directed by the Life Enrichment Director.
- Responds appropriately to resident emergencies, contacting internal and external parties per established protocol.
- Assists with transportation vehicle checks to ensure licenses, inspection tags, and insurance documentation are current and properly displayed.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college coursework in recreation, health education, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in engaging with older adults or in recreation programming is strongly preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
- Valid state driver’s license is required for vehicle travel as needed.
- At least one year of experience in a supportive or customer-facing role is preferred.
Management/Decision Making
Uses basic judgment to make decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities. Knows when to refer issues to the Life Enrichment Director.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to connect meaningfully with older adults.
- Basic typing and computer skills, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
Starting Pay Range
$14.00 - $15.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
