We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Relief Veterinarian to join our dynamic veterinary team. Our privately owned practice is unique in that we ONLY offer surgical and dental services. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality veterinary surgical and dental care across a variety of clinical settings, ensuring the well-being of companion animal patients. Your expertise will support our surgical/dental facility by stepping into the veterinarian role during scheduled absences, emergencies, or peak times (Not including weekends or federal holidays). Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive veterinary surgical and dental services for companion animals.
- Perform surgical procedures, including general anesthesia and specialized surgeries such as dentistry and soft tissue operations.
- Administer anesthesiology protocols with precision, ensuring patient safety during procedures involving sedation or anesthesia.
- Handle animal restraint and animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet health, treatment plans, and follow-up care while maintaining professional ethics.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgeries and procedures to prevent infections and ensure optimal outcomes.
- Follow clinical ethical guidelines and uphold the highest standards of veterinary medicine throughout all patient interactions.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and internal medicine principles.
- Proficiency in animal restraint and animal catheterization.
- Experience in orthopedic surgeries such as FHO, Lateral Loop extra-capsular knee repair, and/or luxating patella repair is a plus but not required.
- Skilled in performing surgery with competence in general anesthesia management and postoperative care.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners on health issues and treatment options.
- Ability to handle dog handling tasks confidently while demonstrating compassion for animals of all sizes.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care protocols, emergency medicine procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning within veterinary medicine disciplines such as dentistry, and soft tissue surgeries.
