What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Crew/Facility Assistant position at Deer Mountain Day Camp?
Deer Mountain Day Camp is looking for a maintenance assistant to round out our year round maintenance team. Assist with setting up and maintaining the cleanliness (includes grounds work and janitorial takes) and safety during our pre-season set up efforts and throughout our summer season. Assist with fall/winter/offseason grounds work, building projects, cleaning and painting. Great opportunity to learn.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Perform variety of tasks, leaf pick up, painting, moving picnic tables, facility step and take down and cleaning.
- Assist the facility manager and grounds keeper with pre-season and off season projects
- Follow a work schedule and work efficiently throughout the day.
- Help maintain a safe and clean working environment daily.

Offseason: Late August through April:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Pre-Camp Set Up: May and June:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00/5:30 pm, some Saturday work required.
Summer Camp Season: June 30 through August 21st
- Monday through Friday: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm,
- Saturdays, 8:00 to 4:00 pm
- Daily Lunch and snacks provided
Requirements and Qualifications
- High Diploma, vocational training or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, including understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to lift, move, position, place and transport objects up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to perform repeated bending, squatting, stooping, pushing and pulling.
- Able to ascend and descend ladders.
- Able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
- Applicants provide their own transportation, be punctual, presentable and respectful toward fellow workers and toward our clients.
- Work Monday through Friday, understanding times outlined in description.
- Willing to work overtime in June, July and August.
- Must be able to show work history, provide 3 references from past employers.
- All candidates will be subject to a background check (including license & driving record) as well as checks against the New York State and National Sex Offender registries.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
