What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Teacher Assistant position at Deer Hill School?
The Deer Hill School seeks a part time librarian beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This is a non-certified ESP position, with work to be performed between the hours of 8:55 am and 3:35 pm. Specific schedule to be determined based on library needs and overall school schedule. This is a 10 month position, starting mid/late August through mid/late June.
The duties commonly associated with the position include but are not limited to:
Program coordinator
•Promote a school-wide reading culture.
•Share responsibility for daily operations of the library.
•Maintain circulation, patron, and materials records using Follett Destiny library software.
•Assist with print collection maintenance and processing of new books.
•Support a parent/guardian volunteer program.
Information specialist
•Match students and teachers with resources that meet their informational, research, leisure, or educational needs.
•Assist in the selection of products and services, such as subscription databases and print materials, which benefit student learning and research and support students’ leisure reading
interests.
Instructional partner
•Together with the certified elementary librarian in the Osgood School, plan and provide learning opportunities to faculty/staff in the areas of library resources, digital literacy skills, ethical information use, and evaluating instructional materials through a culturally inclusive lens.
•Work with the Osgood Librarian to plan and teach weekly grade 3 - grade 5 library blocks.
•Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building principal/assistant principal
