Title: Mechanic
Department: Transportation
Immediate Supervisor: Transportation Shop Foreman/Transportation Director
Job Goal: To keep the District's vehicles in a state of operational excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting in the organization, administration and supervision in the areas of the school district transportation system. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.
Equipment
Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions. Use standard automotive and bus equipment, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school District buildings and professional meetings as required.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Experience in School Transportation recommended. School Bus Inspector Certification. Air-Conditioning Certification.

- Diagnose and repair any and all problems for all District vehicles.
- Support Transportation Safety/Trainer in investigating all accidents involving transportation vehicles.
- Be available for service calls on any vehicle breakdowns.
- Answer any call emergency breakdowns of vehicles as directed by the Transportation Shop Foreman.
- Maintain shop/area tools in a clean and serviceable condition to ensure safe working conditions.
- Clean up various body fluid spills including those containing blood and vomit.
- Assist Transportation Shop Foreman and/or other Transportation Staff to check and maintain adequate levels of fuel for all Transportation vehicles.
- Support Transportation Safety/Trainer to implement any changes in law, policies, procedures, etc.
- Assist with compound cleanliness and maintenance.
- Provide backup support for all areas of the Transportation Shop.
- Other duties may be assigned.
