Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher.
- Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with students to explain assignments, expectations, and instructions.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills with students, staff, and administrators.
- Take attendance according to school procedures.
- Follow established classroom routines and school policies.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and other assigned areas.
- Communicate professionally with school staff regarding student behavior, progress, or concerns.
- Provide a written summary of the day's activities for the regular teacher.
- Adapt to different grade levels, subject areas, and classroom settings as needed.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (or as required by state regulations).
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to clearly present information and respond to questions from students and staff.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Attend mandatory Substitute Training. Dates are available on the Deer Creek Website.
- Complete required Vector training
- Complete required OSBI Fingerprint Background Clearance.
- Ability to stand and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to supervise students in various school environments.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- School setting (elementary, middle, or high school).
- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and quick decision-making.
