We are seeking active, tech-savvy individuals to join our field team for a seasonal infrastructure project across the Chicago metropolitan area. As a sidewalk data collector, you will be instrumental in mapping the city's walkability and contributing to local engineering and accessibility projects. This is a high-activity role perfect for those who enjoy working independently outdoors.

Key Responsibilities
This position involves approximately 90% fieldwork and 10% office work.
- Field Data Collection: Traverse assigned routes on foot to capture high-resolution imagery and spatial data of sidewalks, curb ramps, and pedestrian paths using DeepWalk equipment.
- Asset Inspection: Scan and manually log sidewalk infrastructure issues such as trip hazards using DeepWalk's proprietary technology.
- Technical Operation: Use DeepWalk-provided iPhones to scan locations. May involve other portable scanning equipment.
- Safety & Logistics:
- Maintain high visibility by wearing a provided Class II safety vest while working near active roadways.
- Attend formal check-ins.
- Reporting:
- Provide updates on the schedule for when work will be completed and ensure all required locations are captured with high accuracy, and
- Ensure all data is accurate and uploaded daily.
- Flexibility: Other responsibilities related to scanning as deemed necessary.
- Competitive Pay: $22.00–$28.00 per hour.
- Incentives: Profit-based project bonus.
- Equipment Stipend: $200 stipend for work-related gear (shoes, protection).
- Travel Reimbursement: Mileage/fuel reimbursed at the IRS limit ($0.73 per mile).
- Gear Provided: DeepWalk provides a scanning device (iPhone), a Class II safety vest, charging equipment, and a carrying case for the equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to walk 8–10 miles per day. Can include rough or uneven terrain.
- Environment:
- Work is performed mainly outdoors with frequent exposure to various environmental conditions.
- Requires perception and discrimination in the areas of visual, color, sound, and depth.
- Attention to Detail: An "eagle eye" for spotting a 1/2-inch vertical displacement is essential.
- Travel: Must utilize your vehicle to reach various job sites, including occasional visits to the DeepWalk Downtown Chicago office.
- Prerequisites: Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma/GED.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license with a good record.
- Technical Literacy: Comfortable using iOS/iPhones, GPS hardware, and basic cloud-based mapping apps.
- Reliability: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting daily mileage targets.
- Communication: Professionalism when interacting with curious residents or local officials in the field.
- Engineering Students: Gain hands-on field experience in civil infrastructure.
- Photography/GIS Knowledge: Experience with framing, lighting, or geographic information systems.
- Field Experience: Previous work in surveying, construction inspection, and other forms of data collection
