Pearl’s Bake Shoppe – Richmond, VA
Pearl’s Bake Shoppe is a well-established, locally loved bakery with an amazing culture, low turnover, and a strong team in place. We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead day-to-day operations, set clear expectations, and help elevate performance as our current GM is moving away in March.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being on the floor with their team, leading by example, and creating accountability through strong communication and consistent follow-through.
About the Role
The General Manager reports directly to the Owner and works closely with HR (who handles payroll, benefits, and compliance). You will have full operational authority with owner support, including staffing, scheduling, training, discipline, ordering, and daily execution.
This role is approximately 50% leadership and 50% hands-on.
There is minimal administrative work — the focus is on people, process, and performance.

Schedule & Compensation

Salary: $55,000–$80,000 annually (based on experience)

Hours: 40–50 hours per week (seasonal variation)

Schedule:
- Approximate start time: 7:00 AM, 5 days per week

Most weekends required during busy seasons
- Slower seasons: January, February, June, July, August
- Approximate start time: 7:00 AM, 5 days per week

Holidays: Must be available for most holidays
(Closed: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving)

Requirements

5 years in a management role

Food service experience required
(Bakery experience preferred)
- Proven experience leading teams of 15 employees
- Comfortable with discipline, accountability, and difficult conversations
- Process-driven and organized
- Able to work holidays and early mornings as required
