About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Integration Lead to drive the successful deployment of our global Manufacturing Execution System (MES) program at site level. This role will lead cross-functional integration activities, coordinating Automation, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, IT/OT, and Digital teams to ensure seamless connectivity between shop floor systems and MES. The successful candidate will manage project delivery, stakeholder engagement, testing, and deployment activities while ensuring data integrity, cybersecurity compliance, and alignment with global standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about digital manufacturing, operational excellence, and Industry 4.0 transformation.
Location: Hybrid role - some onsite presence in Kalamazoo, Michigan
Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Delivery
- Lead all site MES integration activities, managing plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables aligned to the global MES program.
- Coordinate cross-functional integration workstreams across Automation, PI, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, IT/OT, vendors, and Global MES teams.
- Monitor project progress, drive stakeholder accountability, and escalate risks, issues, and resource constraints as needed.
- Support governance through project reviews, leadership updates, steering committees, and status reporting.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Act as the primary site contact for MES integration activities.
- Build effective relationships with site leadership, technical teams, vendors, and global stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, requirements gathering, prioritization, and issue resolution.
- Communicate project status, risks, and technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure alignment between site objectives and global program deliverables.
Integration & Technical Coordination
- Conduct site assessments to identify equipment, systems, interfaces, and data sources requiring integration.
- Coordinate integration of manufacturing equipment, PLCs, SCADA, historians, automation platforms, and digital manufacturing systems with MES.
- Define integration requirements, interface specifications, data flows, mapping, testing, and deployment activities.
- Partner with Automation and PI teams to ensure data quality, integrity, cybersecurity compliance, and alignment with global architecture standards.
Testing, Deployment & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate integration testing, commissioning, qualification, go-live readiness, and deployment activities.
- Support issue resolution and risk mitigation throughout implementation.
- Promote standardization, best practices, data quality, system connectivity, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to Industry 4.0 initiatives and knowledge sharing across sites and the global MES program.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Information Systems, Pharmaceutical Technology, or a related discipline.
- 5 years of experience delivering technical projects within manufacturing, engineering, automation, IT/OT, or digital transformation environments.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong project management, planning, coordination, and reporting capabilities.
- Experience working with manufacturing systems, industrial automation, or operational technology environments.
- Experience collaborating with Automation, Engineering, IT, and Operations teams.
- Working knowledge of industrial historians such as AVEVA PI System (OSIsoft PI) or similar platforms.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project tracking, risk management, status reporting, and executive-level presentations.
Preferred
- Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) programs or manufacturing digitalization initiatives.
- Knowledge of industrial communications, and OT/IT architectures.
- Understanding of GAMP5, CSV, and GxP requirements.
- Experience working within large-scale global transformation programs.
