What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Engineer position at Deep Blue?
The Operations Engineer will support and optimize the design, operation, and performance of our water midstream assets. This role will focus on produced water gathering, transportation, treatment, recycling, and disposal systems to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations. The engineer will collaborate with field operations, commercial teams, and regulatory groups to deliver reliable water solutions.
- Provide day-to-day engineering and technical support for water midstream infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, treatment/recycling facilities, and disposal wells.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to maximize throughput, minimize downtime, and reduce operating costs.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, equipment failures, and hydraulic bottlenecks in coordination with field operations.
- Develop and maintain hydraulic models of water gathering and distribution systems.
- Evaluate flow assurance, pressure management, and storage requirements for current and forecasted volumes.
- Analyze water quality data and optimize treatment/recycling processes to meet customer and regulatory specifications.
- Provide technical input to capital projects, including pipeline expansions, facility upgrades, and new disposal or recycling infrastructure.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction packages.
- Support commissioning, startup, and integration of new assets into existing systems.
- Ensure operations meet all environmental and regulatory requirements, including permitting and reporting for water handling and disposal.
- Champion safe work practices and continuous improvement in operational safety and environmental performance.
- Collaborate with sustainability teams to drive water recycling and beneficial reuse initiatives.
- Partner with commercial teams to evaluate new business opportunities and system expansions.
- Work with upstream producers to forecast water production and plan capacity needs.
