DEEM is seeking an experienced Commercial Electrician Foreman to lead electrical work on commercial refrigeration systems, primarily in supermarket and grocery store environments. This role is responsible for overseeing field crews, ensuring quality installations, maintaining safety standards, and serving as the on-site electrical leader for refrigeration projects.
DEEM provides comprehensive services across HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration, Industrial Piping, Building Automation, and Sheet Metal Installation. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, DEEM operates satellite offices throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise electrical crews focused on commercial refrigeration systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems supporting refrigeration equipment.
- Perform and oversee controls wiring, terminations, and multi-circuit connections for refrigerated cases.
- Read, interpret, and enforce electrical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to DEEM quality standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for refrigeration electrical scope with project managers, general contractors, and clients.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, electrical codes, and jobsite regulations.
- Assist with material planning, tool management, and manpower needs.
- Train, mentor, and support electricians and apprentices on refrigeration-specific electrical systems.
- Support troubleshooting and problem resolution in both new construction and remodel environments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 5 years of commercial electrical experience, with a strong focus on refrigeration systems.
- Prior foreman or lead electrician experience strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of refrigeration controls and wiring for commercial refrigerated cases.
- Ability to wire, terminate, and troubleshoot electrical components and control systems.
- Journeyman-level experience required; refrigeration background strongly preferred.
- Grocery store or supermarket project experience preferred.
- Experience with PLC systems and control wiring is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Technical training or certification in electrical work preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work extended hours in confined or restrictive spaces, indoors and outdoors, in temperatures ranging from –20°F to 120°F.
· Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the full shift, including hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and other required PPE.
· Ability to walk and work on varied indoor and outdoor terrain.
· Ability to set up, climb, and work from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and operate scissor and aerial lifts.
· Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more for short durations and moderate distances (assistance required for loads over 50 lbs.) and push or pull 120 lbs. or more.
· Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, standing, laying prone, and reaching in all directions for extended periods.
· Ability to drive using both hands and feet and use both hands independently and together.
