What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Insurance Specialist/Front Desk Clerk position at Dedicated Medical Center and Urgent Care?
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, answering calls, taking messages, and directing inquiries to the appropriate team member
- Check-in patients and collect demographic information for the patient management system (PMS)
- Verify insurance benefits accurately and collect payments at check-in and checkout based on benefits
- Maintain a welcoming, organized front desk, balancing multiple tasks with poise
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teammates to ensure smooth patient flow
What We’re Looking For
- Energetic, self-motivated, quick learner with a positive, friendly demeanor
- Ability to multitask in a busy medical office while staying calm and professional
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Experience with insurance verification and patient billing is a plus
- Two or more years of related experience preferred, but applicants with less experience who demonstrate strong potential will be considered
- Flexibility to work a rotating schedule that includes open to close shifts and weekends on a rotating basis
Work Schedule and Details
- Rotating shift pattern: 3-1-3 schedule (example pattern: Mon off Tue–Thu, Fri–Sun work, next Mon off, then Tue–Thu work, then Fri–Sun off)
- Open to close shifts as scheduled
- Every other weekend required
