What are the responsibilities and job description for the Backhoe Operator position at DeCook Excavating?
DeCook Drainage is looking to add a Backhoe Operator to our team. We specialist in drain tile installation, drain tile repair, site surveying, waterway, basins, wetland restoration and tree removel. This position is a full-time seasonal position that will typically work 12 hour days Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays.
Responsibilities:
- Running the backhoe/excavator in a safe and orderly manner
- Dig junctions and fix tile as needed
- Take directions from the Foreman and Project Manager
- Coordinate with other crew members
- Understanding the details in how to run each piece of equipment
- Performing daily mantenence to ensure the machine runs properly and safely
- Interpret stakes and signage of land
- Time management skills to operate in an efficient and planful manner
Physical Demands:
- Manual Labor
- Ability to lift/carry/pull 80-100 lbs
- Getting in and out of machines
- Working in all weather
- Sitting for long periods of time, contingent on the day
- Standing and walking performed on an occassional basis
- Bending/Crouching
- Squatting/Kneeling
Requirements:
- Prior experience running equipment
- Must have a clean driving record
- CDL preferred
