Job description: Are you an ambitious individual seeking a dynamic opportunity for professional growth? Join our team as a Lumber Yard Supervisor here at Decks and Docks Company, where you will play a pivotal role in the success of our rapidly expanding company. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lumber Yard Supervisor to oversee our lumber yard operations.
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the efficiently pulling, loading, unloading of products. Works to ensure the safety, accuracy, of all procedures. Must be able to keep a clean and neat work environment. Acts as lumberyard supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule the daily tasks of pulling orders, receiving incoming deliveries, pick-ups, and stocking materials in the yard.
- Manage the loading of customers in the yard along with the checking of all materials leaving the yard. Each outgoing order or customer must be checked to verify the accuracy of the load.
- Supervise, manage, and train yard staff according to job descriptions, procedures and schedules.
Ensure all personnel have completed established training guidelines and complete ongoing training as required for their specific job.
- Monitor and ensure the safe and proper usage of all yard equipment (lifts, trucks, banding machines, saws, etc.). Review and implement training procedures to always ensure safe and correct operation of equipment. Ensure receiving and delivery paperwork is prepared, filled-out, signed and turned in according to procedure.
- Report inventory errors, shortages, or problems to office staff.
- Minimize inventory loss and shrinkage by maintaining a neat and orderly yard area, verifying the accuracy of incoming and outgoing deliveries and working with yard personnel to reduce losses.
- Coordinate and inspect returned goods for credit. Report any problematic or questionable returns to Manager immediately.
- Ensure compliance with company, insurance, and OSHA safety and workplace regulations.
DAILY TASKS
- Coordinate shipping, pulling, and loading of deliveries.
- Check-in incoming deliveries as needed; understand PO receiving procedure.
- Ensure customer service standards are met in yard, supervise customer loaders.
- Minimize inventory shrinkage through cycle counts, supervision of correct loading procedures, and correct billing of materials.
- approving all returns.
- Ensure daily P/M checks are all completed. Coordinate equipment repairs, as necessary.
- Ensure special orders are received correctly, tagged, and stored safely for delivery.
- Coordinate dispatching operations w/ other location.
