Responsibilities
Seeking a candidate who will manage and address customer needs, perform sales calls, secure new business, and grow current accounts consistently and effectively. This position requires having frequent contact with longstanding customers and contractors in person, by phone, and walk-ins. Other duties will include generating sales orders, invoicing sales tickets, and working with others at the location to ensure that customer orders are processed in BisTrack and delivered efficiently.
1) Customer Service & Sales
- Greet customers, assess their needs, and provide knowledgeable product recommendations.
- Assist contractors and homeowners with decking material selection based on project requirements.
- Prepare and provide accurate quotes, pricing, and product availability information.
2) Order Processing
- Enter sales orders and special orders into the point‑of‑sale (POS) system.
- Process returns, exchanges, and warranty claims in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinate with warehouse and yard staff to ensure correct and timely order fulfillment.
3) Product Knowledge
- Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of decking materials, brands, building codes, and installation practices.
- Learn new product lines, including composite decking, lumber types, railing systems, and accessories.
- Assist customers with basic project information such as measurements, material estimates, and compatibility questions.
4) Store Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked counter area and showroom displays.
- Answer phone calls and emails promptly and professionally.
- Assist with inventory checks, labeling, pricing updates, and stocking when needed.
- Collaborate with the sales team, warehouse staff, and management to ensure smooth store operations.
- Assist contractors and homeowners with decking material selection based on project requirements.
- Prepare and provide accurate quotes, pricing, and product availability information.
Qualifications
Seeking a detail-oriented person that thrives when multi-tasking. The successful person will be motivated, dependable, shows personal initiative, has an aptitude for detail, and will have a positive mind set.
- Previous experience in building materials, lumber yards, hardware, or construction (preferred but not required).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math skills and the ability to calculate measurements or material quantities.
- Comfortable using POS systems, email, and basic computer applications.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail or contractor‑focused environment.
- Willingness to learn technical product details and industry terminology.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift and move materials or product samples up to 50 lbs (occasionally).
- Navigate warehouse or yard areas as needed for customer assistance.
Work Environment
- Indoor retail counter environment, with occasional work in warehouse or yard areas.
- Regular interaction with homeowners, contractors, and vendors.
