Architectural Design Assistant

Deck Remodelers.com, LLC
Sparta, NJ
Full-Time
$70,000-$75,000 per year plus performance-based bonus

Deck Remodelers.com is a nationally recognized luxury outdoor living design-build company with more than 80 national design awards. We design and build complete backyard environments, including custom decks, patios, outdoor kitchens, pools, fire features, lighting, and louvered roof structures.

We are hiring an Architectural Design Assistant to support site measurement, existing-conditions documentation, design coordination, and project handoffs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career candidate in architecture, architectural design, drafting, construction management, landscape design, interior design, or a related field. You will gain real-world experience in how high-end residential projects move from an existing backyard to a completed, built space.

This is not just a measurement position, and it is not a desk-only drafting job. You will work in the field, interact with homeowners, organize critical project information, and collaborate with our Sales, Design, and Production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Visit client properties to measure potential and active projects accurately.
  • Document existing conditions, including dimensions, elevations, grades, structures, access, and relevant site details.
  • Take and organize field notes, photographs, measurements, and site documentation.
  • Coordinate measurement appointments and communicate professionally with homeowners.
  • Use Bosch laser measuring tools, ladders, and other field equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete follow-up measurements as projects move into production.
  • Assist with drawings, project documentation, and design support using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Realtime Landscaping Architect, JobTread, and related tools.
  • Help ensure Sales, Design, and Production have complete and accurate information before projects move forward.
  • Participate in project handoff meetings and identify missing information or potential site issues early.
  • Organize project files and follow Deck Remodelers standards for measurements, drawings, and documentation.
  • Adapt to changing priorities based on weather, client schedules, new sales opportunities, and active project needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong 3D Design Software Skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel to client properties and work independently in the field.
  • Comfortable using ladders and working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional and confident manner with homeowners and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on details.
  • Ability to reliably commute to Sparta, NJ.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree, coursework, or relevant experience in architecture, architectural design, drafting, construction management, landscape design, interior design, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Realtime Landscaping Architect, JobTread, or similar software.
  • Construction, residential design, surveying, or design-build experience.
  • Portfolio, school projects, drafting samples, or other examples of technical or design work.

Recent graduates and candidates with equivalent hands-on experience are encouraged to apply. We are looking for aptitude, professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in learning.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $70,000-$75,000 annual salary.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Paid training in Deck Remodelers systems, software, and design-build process.
  • 401(k) with full company match.
  • Company benefit contribution.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Primarily Monday through Friday.
  • Office- and field-based role.
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be needed based on client availability, weather, project needs, or company events.

Why Join Deck Remodelers

  • Your work contributes directly to projects that are actually built.
