What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiving and Shipping Associate position at Decimet Sales, Inc.?
Job Title: Shipping and Receiving
Department: Sheet Metal Fabrication
Reports To: Fabrication Shop Manager
Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm
Summary: Shipping and receiving of fabricated metal parts. These parts will be palletized, boxed, or on other types of shipping materials. Experience with forklifts, loading/unloading, and ERP / data entry systems are all required. An ideal candidate will be motivated, fast paced, have a good attitude and be a team player!
Outgoing Products:
- Count and verify all parts are correct and accurate to the customers purchase order
- Verify all products and parts needed for each job are accurate and match the purchase order.
- Punch into the shipping job and record the data in epicor
- If there are issues with the product or part counts, notify appropriate department immediately through email and verbal communication. All issues should be documented in an email.
- Prepare the parts for shipment
- This may include, but not limited to: packaging, wrapping and banding, palletizing, creation and printing of packing slips and tagging of parts.
- Notify appropriate areas of shipment status via emails.
- This may include scheduling status, verification of shipping methods, and place on trucking scheduling when needed.
- Couriers may be utilized in circumstances that are deemed necessary in order to move products and goods so customers are able to receive their parts in a timely manner
- Return job packets to appropriate location.
- Create notes with specific packaging instructions in the job packet for future use
- Take ownership of the shipping and receiving area to make sure that all shipments of goods and products are packed in a way that is safe to those handling the products and good as well as ensure quality products upon arrival.
Incoming Products:
- Mate together incoming items (screws, hardware, small misc. parts)
- Keep receiving and shipping area neat and clean
- Sweep area, organize shelves,
- Ensure project managers are communicated with about any items that appear to be in the receiving area and do not have clear instructions of what part (s) they mate up with.
Assemblies:
- Punch into epicor during assembly processes and accurately detail time into jobs.
- Perform assembly processes as needed for fabrication of parts or products
- Move to outgoing product area and follow the outgoing products list of duties
Material Handling:
- Move product as needed
- Work with Fabrication Manager to verify when completing or moving of items to ensure that everything is following the work flow desired.
- Continuously look for and seek out any continuous improvements that may be made in the department
- Use safety and be cautious while moving parts
Education or Certifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years in shipping/receiving department
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Strong verbal skills Leadership responsibilities
- Ability to use Epicor and Microsoft email
- Organized and neat, with an exceptional eye for detail!
- Use of forklift and other packaging equipment
- Ability to read job travelers and blue prints when needed
- Understanding of safety rules and regulations to prevent unsafe set-ups, operations, or acts which might cause injury to self, others, environment or equipment.
- Ability to work through daily operational activities that are changing consistently
- Ability to plan effectively and execute the plans
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Able to lift 25 pounds or more daily and over 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to push or pull over 25 pounds daily or over 25 pounds occasionally
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
