We are looking for a friendly Shopkeeper for our specialty shop, Paracasa in Hensonville, NY.
*Must have retail experience*
Job Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet and assist customers in a warm, knowledgeable, and professional manner
- Provide product information and recommendations based on customer needs
- Handle all customer inquiries, complaints, or concerns with diplomacy and care
- Operate the cash register and process sales accurately
Store Operations
- Open and close the store independently, following security protocols
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shopping environment
- Receive, inspect, and stock inventory, ensuring accurate pricing and shelf placement
- Monitor and rotate stock to ensure freshness, particularly for perishables
- Track inventory levels and communicate restocking needs with suppliers or managers
Merchandising & Displays
- Create and maintain visually appealing displays that align with the brand aesthetic
- Set up seasonal and promotional displays in collaboration with management
- Monitor product movement and adapt displays to improve sales performance
Product Knowledge & Specialty Focus
- Learn and maintain deep knowledge of specialty items (local goods, artisanal products, imported goods, etc.)
- Support in-store sampling events or product demos as needed
- Stay informed about trends in specialty food, wellness, and sustainable goods
- Training as barista and operating espresso machine
Administrative Duties
- Record daily sales and reconcile cash drawers
- Support with order processing, invoicing, and vendor communications
- Maintain documentation for health and safety compliance
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with ownership and team members to ensure smooth operations
- Train and support new team members as needed
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve the store experience
Qualifications:
- Prior retail or grocery store experience preferred (especially in specialty or boutique settings)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and a high standard for cleanliness and presentation
- Comfort with POS systems and basic inventory software
- Passion for high-quality food, products, and community-driven retail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Hygiene/Dress Code Requirements:
- Must uphold standards of food service hygiene as outlined by the NY State Dept of Health
- Professional attire is required.
- Shoes must be non-slip and closed toe.
