Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization regarding strategic people solutions. The HR Director effectively mitigates risk by setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. The HR Director drives the values of the organization by serving as the strategic link between management and the team members, pairing business needs and people together.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee the company’s recruitment, interview, selection and hiring processes and best practices in order to build talent through external and internal recruiting; responsible for company’s brand in the talent marketplace.
  • Build solid pipeline of talent for critical functions and roles at Decatur Foundry; leadership and skilled labor.
  • Oversee strategic workforce planning and development based on present and future business needs.
  • Drive positive employee engagement and experience efforts by coordinating and helping lead events for team members. Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for the company’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the company’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs to retain top talent.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the company’s management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Effectively mitigate risk by maintaining knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Drafts and manages the company’s staffing budget, and the budget for the Human Resource department.
  • Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.
  • Responsible for initiating and supporting community relationships such as colleges, other government and business entities to help promote Decatur Foundry as a premier employer and maintain a strong reputation and connection through philanthropic endeavors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of EEO laws preferred; knowledge of HRIS databases and processes required; ability to work independently; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to learn quickly with attention to detail; strong organizational skills; strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; master's or law degree highly preferred. At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred. SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.

Pay: $83,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
