Duties
- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques with precision and care
- Prepare and process specimens according to laboratory procedures, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation
- Monitor patient and provide reassurance to ensure a positive experience during specimen collection
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity
- Assist with patient care activities, including explaining procedures and addressing patient questions or concerns
- Record detailed information using medical terminology and laboratory protocols for accurate data entry
- Support laboratory staff by organizing specimens, managing sample flow, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings, with a focus on phlebotomy or blood sampling
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and laboratory safety standards
- Hands-on experience with venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing in hospital or clinical environments
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques including aseptic technique and specimen handling protocols
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement and basic anatomy knowledge to support accurate sample collection
- Prior hospital experience or working within a healthcare setting is highly preferred
