Position Summary
Debra’s Heart, LLC is seeking a responsible and dependable Sitter / Direct Care Support Staff to provide supervision and support to youth ages 16–21 in our DCFS-licensed Transitional Living Program. This position focuses on safety, supervision, and maintaining a structured living environment.
Primary Responsibilities (To-Do List)
The Sitter/Direct Care Staff will:
- Provide continuous supervision of youth in the home
- Ensure youth safety and well-being at all times
- Conduct head counts and visual checks as required
- Enforce house rules, routines, and curfews
- Support youth with daily living skills (cleaning, organization, routines)
- Ensure completion of assigned chores and responsibilities
- Monitor visitors and enforce visitor policies
- Maintain a calm, clean, and structured environment
- Document and report incidents, concerns, or rule violations
- Follow emergency procedures when needed
- Communicate concerns immediately to the Program Director or on-call staff
- Remain awake, alert, and attentive during the entire shift
- Maintain professional boundaries with youth at all times
DCFS Requirements & Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age (DCFS requirement)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass DCFS criminal background check and fingerprinting
- Valid identification
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to follow DCFS regulations and agency policies
- Experience working with youth preferred (not required)
Required Training (DCFS-Aligned)
Must complete required training within designated timelines, including:
- Orientation training
- Mandated Reporter Training
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Emergency procedures and supervision training
(Training provided or arranged by the agency as required)
Pay & Employment Terms
- $9.00 per hour
- Training required prior to independent supervision
- Employment contingent upon background clearance and training completion
