Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Caretakers to provide high-quality support and assistance to residents in a healthcare or community living environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, home health, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or autism. This role involves delivering personalized care, ensuring safety, and promoting independence for residents while maintaining a respectful and caring atmosphere. The Caretaker will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those they serve through attentive caregiving and support.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs and observing patient conditions
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care through specialized techniques
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure proper use of safety equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through routine cleaning and sanitation practices
- Follow prescribed care plans and document observations accurately for ongoing patient monitoring
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and social engagement to promote mental well-being
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and safety compliance
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, long-term care, home & community care, nursing home, hospice, or social work preferred
- Knowledge of patient care procedures including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care techniques
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety awareness
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a caregiving environment
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure resident privacy and confidentiality
