A progressive Democratic campaign for Montgomery County Council District 1 is seeking energetic, motivated, and reliable students and young leaders to join the Students for Debbie Spielberg Field Leadership Program as Paid Canvasser Interns ahead of the June 23, 2026 Democratic Primary.
This is a fast paced, community focused campaign centered on grassroots organizing and voter engagement. Participants will gain hands on experience in political organizing, voter outreach, and field operations while helping elect Debbie Spielberg to the Montgomery County Council.
Paid canvassers will play a critical role in helping identify supporters, persuade undecided voters, and turn out Democrats across Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Cabin John, and Glen Echo.
- Conduct canvassing throughout District 1 using voter lists, scripts, and messaging provided by the campaign
- Speak directly with registered Democrats about the candidate and campaign priorities
- Collect voter information accurately using the MiniVAN app
- Help persuade undecided voters and identify supporters using campaign guidance and talking points
- Attend trainings, canvasses, campaign events, and volunteer activities
- Meet daily and weekly voter contact goals set by the campaign
- Help create an energetic and welcoming atmosphere for volunteers
- Work closely with the Field Director, organizers, and fellow field interns
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Prior canvassing, organizing, or campaign experience is a plus, but not required
- Interest in politics, public service, or grassroots organizing encouraged
Note: Canvassing will take place across Montgomery County’s District 1. Some areas are accessible via public transportation, but canvassers are expected to arrange their own transportation.
- $20 per hour
- Between 10 and 40 hours per week
- Weekday evening and weekend shifts preferred
- Start Date: Immediately
- Position runs through June 23, 2026
