Teacher—Elementary School
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate for the elementary (K-8) level.
- Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.
- Fifteen (15) hours of State approved Structured English Immersion (SEI) coursework.
- Successful student teaching experience at the elementary school level.
- Structured English Immersion (SEI) or English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement preferred.

JOB GOAL
To create a flexible elementary school grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to provide motivating experiences which assist students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a good foundation for elementary school education in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strives to implement by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Recognizes the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Administers group and individual standardized tests, and other tests in accordance with State law and District policy.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
- Screens all students, as required or beneficial to the student and the program, and refers to District specialists for diagnosis of students suspected of having learning disabilities.
- Works with the District, building, grade level, and subject area committees to insure thoroughness and efficiency in meeting learning objectives.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom, within the building, and on the play areas.
- Keeps the principal and other appropriate staff members informed as to matters affecting students under their supervision, school policy, and the educational program.
- Takes all necessary reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities while on duty, and reports vandalism and theft of school property as situations occur.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with District guidelines.
- Supervises students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and other times as needed or requested.
- Communicates with and interprets for parents and District personnel the students' progress, through conferences, reports, and other means.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Attends all orientation and staff meetings and serves on staff and District committees as required.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the principal, superintendent or the Board may deem in the best interest of the District.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Nine and one-half (9.5) months a year based on the Initial Placement Certified Salary Schedule. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.
