What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Death Row Restaurants?
Hi! Two things about us. Regardless of the restaurant concept or your affiliation as a teammate, guest, business partner, or community member: our mission is Smiles on Faces and our product is Fun. We are growing hospitality group that has been making an impact on the communities around us and industry at large since 2010. We have been recognized with multiple awards from Best Burger, Best Wings, Best Brunch, Best Pizza between Brewligans Public House, Big League Brews, and MT’s Pizza King. Soon to Open One Star Bar followed by Good Neighbor Pizzeria are the next pages in the Death Row Restaurants catalog with ambition of taking over the world one dope spot at a time.
We are now seeking a Director of Operations who can take the reins of our day-to-day operations, implement scalable systems, and bring consistency and accountability across our restaurants. This role is not just about keeping the trains running on time — it’s about driving performance, leading managers, and giving our Founder the freedom to focus on growth and vision.
Your Role
- Lead & Develop Managers: Provide structure, accountability, and coaching for our General Managers and Kitchen Managers, ensuring they hit performance goals and live our core values.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Implement systems and processes across all brands to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate guest experience.
- Performance Management: Monitor and control restaurant-level financial performance (sales, labor, COGS, prime costs), holding managers accountable for results.
- Scaling & Growth: Prepare our group for expansion by building repeatable playbooks and operational standards that allow us to scale MT’s Pizza King, Good Neighbor, and future brands.
- Open New Concepts: Lead operations for the successful launch of One Star Bar, Good Neighbor Cocktail Lounge, and beyond — ensuring smooth openings and strong handoffs.
- Culture & Hospitality: Protect and strengthen our core values across all brands — We Are Hospitality, We Are Coachable, We Are Builders, We Are Ambassadors, We Give A $hit , We Are Owners.
- Integrator Role: Act as the bridge between vision and execution, turning big ideas into measurable results and day-to-day realities.
About You
- Hospitality Obsessed: You love this industry and understand both the grind and the glory of great restaurants.
- Proven Operator: You’ve run multi-unit restaurants or hospitality groups before, with a track record of improving performance and implementing systems that stick.
- Systems-Driven: You bring discipline, structure, and tools that create consistency without killing creativity.
- People Leader: You know how to hold managers accountable while also coaching and developing them. You can “manage the managers.”
- Financially Savvy: Strong command of restaurant P&L, budgeting, labor management, food and beverage cost control.
- Builder Mentality: You thrive on scaling — creating playbooks, SOPs, and processes that can be replicated across multiple brands.
- Execution Machine: Where others get stuck in ideas, you drive results.
Requirements
-5 years multi-unit restaurant leadership experience (Director, Regional, or similar).
- Proven ability to implement systems and scale operations.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with P&L accountability.
- Experience opening new restaurants and managing cross-functional teams.
- Passion for hospitality, culture, and building lasting brands.
