Do you genuinely love dogs and enjoy hands-on, active work? Dear Madison Dogs is looking for a dependable, hardworking and compassionate Pet Care Specialist to join our team.

Our Pet Care Specialists are responsible for helping provide a safe, clean, comfortable and fun environment for every dog entrusted to our care. While spending your day with dogs is certainly a perk, this is an active, hands-on position that requires attention to detail, excellent communication, lots of cleaning and a genuine commitment to animal care.

Responsibilities

As a Pet Care Specialist, you will:

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to all animals entrusted to us
• Prepare and offer meals according to each dog’s individual feeding instructions and dietary needs
• Organize, administer and accurately log medications for boarding and daycare dogs
• Oversee and actively supervise group and individual play
• Continuously monitor dogs for behavior, comfort, safety and overall well-being
• Recognize and promptly communicate any health, behavioral or other areas of concern
• Maintain detailed communication with the owner/management regarding the animals in our care and daily operations
• Take pictures of dogs in our care
• Pick up pet waste and properly clean and disinfect affected areas
• Sweep, mop, clean and disinfect throughout the facility
• Wash, dry, fold and organize laundry
• Perform basic dog bathing and nail trims (experience is helpful but not required—we can teach you!)
• Greet pet owners and communicate with them in a friendly, professional and helpful manner
• Help maintain a positive environment and demonstrate genuine care and compassion for every animal

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position. Applicants must be able to:

• Safely lift up to 50 lbs
• Safely handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs
• Work both indoors and outdoors
• Work in varying outdoor weather conditions
• Stand and remain active for the duration of the shift
• Bend, kneel, squat, reach, walk and perform repetitive cleaning and animal-care tasks
• Comfortably work around dogs of different sizes, breeds, personalities and energy levels

⌚️Time Requirements

We provide care 365 days per year. Consistent shifts are 6am - 10am & 2:30pm - 6:30pm. While everyone is required to work weekends and Holidays, we schedule to ensure this is a fairly shared responsibility that also prioritizes family time & personal lives.
