AUTOMOTIVE & TIRE SHOP MANAGER

We’re hiring ONE experienced automotive and tire professional to run our day-to-day business, lead our technicians, handle customers, sell service, and coordinate roadside dispatch.

MANAGE FIRST. HELP HANDS-ON WHEN NEEDED.

Your primary responsibility is managing and delegating—not being the main technician. You must also have practical mechanical knowledge and be willing to help in the shop when needed.

The owner remains actively involved and available to help when on-site. You must be able to run operations independently while the owner is on service calls, handling outside business, traveling, or on vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Open and close the shop and oversee daily business operations.
• Answer phones, assist customers, schedule appointments, and follow up on estimates.
• Prepare accurate estimates and price and sell tires, maintenance, mechanical repairs, and roadside service.
• Explain recommended work and obtain customer approvals.
• Assign work, supervise technicians, order parts, and monitor job progress and quality.
• Coordinate roadside calls, dispatch technicians, and keep customers informed.
• Oversee repair orders, invoices, payments, and fleet paperwork.
• Resolve customer concerns and keep the team organized and accountable.
• Occasionally assist with tires, brakes, oil changes, alignments, and diagnostic work.
• Occasionally handle nighttime calls and dispatch when the owner is traveling or on vacation.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Automotive and tire industry experience required.
• Previous shop management, assistant management, or service-advisor experience with team leadership.
• Hands-on mechanical knowledge and the ability to assist with shop services when needed.
• Strong estimating, customer-service, and service-selling skills.
• Professional phone manners, computer skills, and strong organization.
• Dependable attendance and the ability to take responsibility without constant supervision.
• Valid driver’s license.

Commercial truck, trailer, fleet, or roadside experience is a strong plus.
English/Spanish bilingual ability is a bonus, not a requirement.

SCHEDULE
• Monday–Friday: arrive at 8:00 a.m.; shop closes at 5:30 p.m.
• Saturday: arrive at 8:00 a.m.; shop closes at 2:00 p.m.
• Complete opening and closing duties.
• Sunday: shop closed.
• Occasional nighttime phone and dispatch coverage as arranged.

COMPENSATION
Compensation negotiable based on experience.
Sales-based commission/percentage opportunity above an agreed sales threshold, with written terms.
Additional earning opportunities for qualified managers who personally perform roadside service calls.
