Job Overview:
The Lactation Consultant RN provides lactation consultation, education and support to new mothers for both inpatients and outpatients; contacts breastfeeding mothers 48 hours after discharge; serves as a resource for staff nurses, physicians and the community. The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care; demonstrates the knowledge, critical thinking and judgment of and integrates the use of evidence-based outcomes for nursing practice; supervises care delivered; coordinates plan of care; provides education for patients, families and staff; and collaborates with other disciplines. The RN will adhere to the American Nurses Association Bill of Rights by establishing and maintaining workplace expectations and environments which support sound professional nursing practice.
Required: Certifications/Licenses/Experience:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) in Indiana or other compact licensed state
Preferred: Certifications/Licenses/Experience:
- 1-2 years of RN experience in the practice area is preferred
- IBCLC or CLC is preferred
