What are the responsibilities and job description for the IL Lab Unit Secretary position at Deaconess IL Medical Center?
Position Purpose:
Processes specimens for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs clerical duties including registration, collection and review of billing information, data entry, ordering tests, diagnosis entry, retrieval and distribution of results. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.
Education:
High School graduate or high school equivalency.
Experience:
Phlebotomy experience preferred. Laboratory Information/Data Entry experience preferred but not required. Medical Terminology and diagnosis coding experience preferred but not required.
Licenses/Certificates:
Certificate as PBT (ASCP) preferred. Must possess current card from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) or Red Cross BLS for healthcare providers within 3 months of hire.
Compensation:
Hourly Range $15.00 $22.50
Bonus:
Potential for a performance-based bonus, subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics. Details regarding bonus eligibility and performance goals will be provided during the interview process or upon hire.
Incentives:
Eligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
