Job Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting. They help manage patient intake, schedule appointments, maintain medical records, process billing and insurance claims, referral scheduling,and provide general office support. MOAs act as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and other medical staff, ensuring an organized, efficient, and welcoming environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Scheduling and Communication:
- Answer phones, take messages, and schedule patient appointments.
- Confirm appointments and follow up on patient reminders.
- Greet patients upon arrival and check them in for appointments.
Medical Records Management:
- Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Billing and Insurance:
- Process insurance claims and verify patient insurance information.
- Prepare billing statements and assist patients with understanding their financial responsibilities.
- Assist with coding and submitting claims for reimbursement.
Office and Administrative Support:
- Handle office supplies and equipment maintenance.
- Perform general clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and photocopying.
- Ensure office forms and documents are organized and up-to-date.
Referrals:
Schedule referrals and follow up on the referrals.
Compensation:
Hourly Range -$16.00-$24.00
Incentives:
Eligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
