Position Summary:
The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. This is a technical position. Typical work situations require performing multiple tests with exacting accuracy and rapid turnaround time. Medical Lab Technicians perform manual and automated procedures, operate instruments that are computer interfaced and use networked computer information systems, following a specific network of steps and variables, according to established protocols. This position requires a service committed individual, who is detail oriented and can perform data analysis, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The MLT may act as a resource for other laboratory personnel as well as for external customers such as physicians, and patient care staff.
Minimum Requirements:
One year of previous laboratory experience preferred.
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
Current Certification of Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (ASCP)CM. or MLT (ASCP) or registry eligible or MLT(AMT) (if certified after Jan 2007)
Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist eligible (if duties will include phlebotomy)
