Job Summary
As a Drywaller at Deacon Construction, you will be responsible for taping joints between plasterboard or other wallboards and preparing wall surfaces for painting, wallpapering, or texturing. This is a hands-on position that requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut out and pre-fill damaged areas on finished walls with hot mud to create a smooth surface.
- Mix joint compounds and tape over flat, butt, and angle joints using hand tools or mechanical applicators.
- Spot screws and apply compound materials over taped areas, ensuring a smooth, even finish.
- Sand rough spots once the compound has dried to prepare surfaces for painting or texturing.
- Apply flush coats, primers, or texture finishes, and touch up any nicks, dings, scuffs, or pinholes to ensure quality.
- Clean and maintain all mechanical tools daily to ensure proper working conditions.
- Stock necessary materials on-site and ensure they are available as needed for the job.
- Adhere to all industry standards and safety regulations while performing tasks.
- Proven experience as a drywaller or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficient in using drywall tools, both hand tools and mechanical applicators.
- Strong knowledge of joint compounds, surface preparation, and application methods.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- High attention to detail and a solid commitment to craftsmanship.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, or lifts as necessary.
