Position Details 

• Position Title: Construction Superintendent
• Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary 

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of field operations on construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role involves direct supervision of subcontractors, proactive management of project budgets, enforcement of quality control measures, and consistent documentation and communication with internal and external stakeholders. 

Key responsibilities include effective coordination and scheduling of subcontractors, diligent cost management with a focus on cost-saving opportunities, and maintenance of detailed project documentation. The Superintendent ensures compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, maintains professional relationships with subcontractors, and actively upholds company and client quality expectations. Clear and timely communication with project managers, clients, and subcontractors is essential to support successful project execution and client satisfaction. 

Duties/Responsibilities 

Responsibilities will also include:  

• Manage budget
  • Consistently manages projects within or under budget; proactively identifies and corrects cost issues
  • Actively seeks cost savings opportunities, managing resources efficiently without sacrificing quality
  • Proactively identifies, documents and effectively communicates all required change orders with subcontractors and ensures PM is in the loop
  • Clearly communicates budget status, cost concerns or variances proactively to PM
• Coordinate subs
  • Consistently schedules subcontractors effectively, ensuring timely project progression and minimal downtime
  • Maintains strong oversight, effectively managing subcontractors to meet performance, quality and safety standards
  • Builds and maintains positive, professional relationships with subcontractors, ensuring cooperation and reliability
  • Ensures subcontractors consistently meet all regulatory, safety, insurance and compliance requirements
• Manage work quality
  • Consistently ensures projects meet or exceed company quality standards and client expectations
  • Regularly conducts thorough and proactive site inspections, immediately addressing quality concerns
  • Promptly identifies quality issues and ensures corrective actions are taken swiftly and effectively
• Regularly achieves high client satisfaction related to project quality and workmanship
• Ensure vehicles are up to date on maintenance and clean inside and out
• Job file documentation
  • Consistently maintains detailed, accurate and complete job file documentation as it relates to the work subcontractors are doing on site.
  • Regularly ensures job files and documentation are completed and updated promptly
  • Maintains documentation that consistently meets audit standards without significant corrections needed
  • Clearly and promptly documents all job changes, updates and related communications

  • Regularly communicates clearly and proactively with internal stakeholders, ensuring smooth job progression
  • Maintains clear, professional and timely communication with subcontractors to support effective collaboration

Supervisory Responsibilities 

• This role does not include direct supervisory duties but does require cross-functional collaboration and informal leadership through accountability, support, and follow-through.

Education And Experience 

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or a related field preferred
• 5 years of experience in the construction industry with at least 2-3 years in a superintendent or field leadership role
• Hands-on experience with construction documentation, project scheduling, and subcontractor oversight
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations, local building codes, and job site safety practices
• Proven experience managing commercial and/or residential construction projects from start to finish

 Physical Requirements 

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including navigating active construction sites
• Frequent walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and occasional use of ladders
• Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 25-50 pounds 
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for writing, typing, and handling documents or electronic devices 
• Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via electronic communication
• Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching to inspect project details 
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
