What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leadership Instructor - De Anza Summer Academy position at De Anza College Academy?
Help young people discover their voice and purpose as leaders! We’re seeking a Leadership instructor to guide middle and high school students through an interactive four-week journey of teamwork, communication, and civic engagement. Students will participate in simulations, group projects, and reflective activities that strengthen collaboration and confidence.
Instructors have full latitude to design their own leadership course structure, drawing on their professional experience and passions. A technology and supply budget is available for creative materials, guest speakers, or project resources.

• Background in education, youth development, civic engagement, or leadership training.
• Passionate about helping students develop empathy, confidence, and agency.
• Skilled at creating an inclusive, motivating classroom environment.
Open Position: Leadership Instructor
Rate: $80 per hour
Dates/Times: June 29 to July 24 (8:15am to 1:15pm – Instructor may teach up to (4) periods)
No class on Friday, 7/3/25
Location: This instructor position will be teaching in person classes for the De Anza Summer Academy program on campus.
Academic Requirements:
Ideal candidate has a valid California Teaching Credential and/or three or more years of teaching experience in relevant subject area and appropriate grade level division.
Other Requirements:
- Provide an instructional program as defined by district Standards of California State Standards, using
the adopted curriculum, for assigned students.
- Submit a complete course outline and syllabus prior to the beginning of program.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide planned experiences in order to motivate
students and best utilize instructional time.
- Utilize the appropriate instruction techniques, activities, strategies, and supplemental materials that
will adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual students and be consistent with District goals.
- Collaborate with other program members.
- Fulfill assigned responsibilities for student supervision.
- Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Establish and maintain a standard of student behavior needed to achieve a desirable learning
atmosphere which provides physical and psychological security.
- Prepare and submit, in a timely manner, all required attendance reports and information as required.
