What are the responsibilities and job description for the Owner Relationships Liaison position at de Anda Capital?
Role: Owner Relationships Liaison
Marathon Management, LLC | Memphis, TN (Germantown) | On-site | Full-time | Posted by de Anda Capital on behalf of Marathon Management, LLC
About Marathon Management, LLC
Marathon Management has been going the extra mile since 2005, growing into a full-service real estate investment and property management firm serving the greater Memphis area, plus Little Rock, AR and the surrounding Mid-South. We manage over 2,000 residential properties and 450 commercial leases on behalf of 500 property investors from around the globe.
We’re licensed real estate professionals in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Anyone can fix a leaky faucet. What actually sets a property manager apart is whether the owner hears about it, understands it, and trusts how it was handled. That’s the business we’re really in.
About This Role
Owner communication is Marathon’s single biggest differentiator, and the number one reason owners stay with us or leave us. More than any other seat at the company, this role decides whether an owner feels like a valued partner or just an account number. The person we hire here is the one who keeps that advantage alive.
We’re hiring an Owner Relationships Liaison to be the primary point of contact for Marathon’s property owners: the person they call, email, or message in the owner portal whenever they have a question, a concern, or something that needs to get handled. You’ll own communication, service, and escalation handling across our owner portfolio, working closely with our Maintenance, Leasing, and Accounting teams to keep owners informed and confident in how their investment is being managed.
Objectives of the Role
- Be the primary, trusted point of contact for Marathon’s property owners.
- Make owner communication Marathon’s clearest competitive advantage in the Mid-South market.
- Reduce owner churn by resolving concerns quickly and keeping owners consistently informed.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners, handling day-to-day questions, updates, and requests.
- Build owner relationships through proactive, consistent communication, including regular check-ins rather than just reacting when a problem comes up.
- Relay owner expectations, concerns, and feedback to Maintenance, Leasing, and Accounting so the right team can act on them quickly.
- Handle escalations with judgment: resolve what you can directly, and loop in the right person when you can’t.
- Help owners understand their monthly statements, reporting, and the reasoning behind decisions on their property.
- Act as a liaison between owners and vendors or property managers on repair and service matters, keeping owners informed throughout the process.
- Track recurring owner concerns and flag patterns to leadership to help improve service and retention.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date communication records in our property management software (Propertyware).
What We're Looking For
Because this function drives retention more than any other role at Marathon, we’re weighting candidates toward proven relationship and client-service experience over pure administrative background.
Required:
- 1–3 years in a client-facing role: property management, real estate brokerage, leasing, or hospitality backgrounds are all a strong fit.
- A track record of relationship-management work, not just administrative task execution.
- A natural communicator: personable, clear, patient, and comfortable being the face of the company to people who trust us with a major financial asset.
- Someone who takes ownership of a problem instead of just routing it, acting proactively rather than waiting to react.
- Comfortable working in-office in Germantown, TN, Monday–Friday.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of real estate fundamentals; an active real estate license is a plus but not required.
- Experience with property management software such as Propertyware, AppFolio, or Yardi.
Compensation & Growth
- Base salary: ~$60,000, commensurate with experience.
- Growth path: for the right person, this role can grow into asset management over time, with earning potential in the $70,000–$80,000 range.
