DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
FLSA Classification: Exempt

Purpose
DDG is actively looking to add a Development Engineer who will be a part of municipal services program team. The engineer will ensure compliance with federal, state and local ordinances regulating development projects within the municipality. The engineer will work closely with consultants, contractors, municipal departments, and regulatory agencies to maintain and improve the municipality’s development review process.

Job Description
DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Purpose
DDG is actively looking to add a Development Engineer who will be a part of municipal services program team. The engineer will ensure compliance with federal, state and local ordinances regulating development projects within the municipality. The engineer will work closely with consultants, contractors, municipal departments, and regulatory agencies to maintain and improve the municipality’s development review process.
Activities Responsibilities
- Assist with the review of plans and design for development within the municipality, including project permits and planning cases.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other municipal departments to ensure timely and quality completion of project reviews.
- Assist with construction support services of development projects
- Provide technical advice and guidance on development regulation and processes to municipal departments and the public.
- Collaborate with other engineers, urban planners, and environmental specialists to develop integrated solutions for development.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for municipal leadership, regulatory agencies, and the public.
- Participate in public meetings and workshops to discuss development projects, issues, studies, and development proposals with community residents and other stakeholders
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and enhancing the City’s Standards, Specifications, and Code to ensure they reflect best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with the design and/or permitting of land development projects
- Understanding of review and permitting procedures for municipalities
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, Engineering Intern (EI) license required
- At least 3-5 years of experience design and/or permitting of land development projects
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding stormwater management.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
