Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and professional Certified Medical Assistant with strong medical office and administrative skills.
This is a cross-trained position that includes patient check-in, check-out, triage, telephone support, scheduling, elastography assistance, and general office administration. The selected candidate must be willing to complete training and learn all areas of the practice.
The ideal candidate is organized, flexible, patient-focused, and able to multitask effectively in a busy medical office while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient check-in and check-out.
- Answer a high volume of telephone calls courteously and professionally.
- Take accurate patient messages and route them appropriately.
- Assist with triage duties within the scope of certification.
- Assist with elastography procedures after completing office-provided training.
- Schedule appointments and assist patients with office-related questions.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and referrals.
- Perform medical records, filing, scanning, and administrative duties.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
- Support patients, providers, and coworkers as needed.
- Travel between office locations according to the assigned schedule.
- Work well with patients and coworkers, and provide respectful, high-quality care to everyone.
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification.
- Previous medical office experience required.
- Medical office management or administrative experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Professional, dependable, positive, and compassionate attitude.
- Willingness to complete elastography and office cross-training.
- Experience working with geriatric patients preferred.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between offices.
- Reliable professional references required.
- Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
- Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus
- Qualified candidates should submit a résumé and proof of current Medical Assistant certification.
Schedule and Travel
The regular schedule includes approximately three days in Lakeland and two days in Winter Haven. Administrative work may be performed at the North Lakeland office Monday through Friday.
Travel to the Lake Wales office is required approximately once per month for a half-day, followed by work at the Winter Haven office.
This position also requires working one half-day Saturday each month.
Flexible availability is essential. Some days may require an early start, while other days may require staying later based on patient volume, provider schedules, and office needs.
