What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at DCI?
DCI is a leading manufacturer of dental parts and equipment, committed to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant join our finance team. This role is critical in supporting cost accounting functions, financial planning, and performance analysis to drive strategic decision-making.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (include, but not limited to):
- Accounting
- Maintain and analyze standard costs for products and components.
- Monitor and report on manufacturing variances and inventory valuation.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting.
- Financial Analysis
- Perform detailed financial analysis to support business decisions.
- Analyze trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis and provide insights.
- Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals.
- Data & Reporting Tools
- Utilize Microsoft Query, Excel, and Power BI to extract, analyze, and visualize financial data.
- Develop dashboards and automated reports to support real-time decision-making.
Educational and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook required, experience with Power BI and/or Microsoft Query preferred.
- Experience with ERP Systems required
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a computer workstation.

- Ability to work flexible hours, with additional time as needed.
