This is a Audit Internship position. The DCAA Audit Intern Program offers selected post-secondary students the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job training and experience related to the Auditing career field while working full-time or part-time schedules.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be current students in good academic standing, or accepted for enrollment for FALL 2026, on at least a part-time basis pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree at a qualifying educational institution and is making satisfactory progress towards receipt of a baccalaureate or graduate degree. The degree must be in Accounting or a related field (accounting, auditing, business administration, economics, finance, or public administration) with a total of 24 or more semester hours in Accounting (this may include up to 6 semester hours in Business Law)

To be creditable, education must be obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Qualifying Education Institution: Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx)
OR
(http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ous/international/usnei/us/edlite-visitus-forrecog.html):

1) A 2-year or 4-year college or university; OR

2) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school)

Applicant must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-599-03:
Completion of one academic year of post-high school study.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-599-04:
Completion of two academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.

* The required education must lead to a degree in Accounting or a related field (accounting, auditing, business administration, economics, finance, or public administration) with a total of 24 or more semester hours in Accounting(this may including up to 6 semester hours in Business Law).

Conversion: Selectees may be converted to a permanent appointment in the competitive service without further competition when they have completed the course of study leading to a bachelor's or graduate degree and meets the qualification standards for the positions to which converted.

Financial Management Certification: Selectees must meet the requirements of the DoD Financial Management (FM) Certification Program. The FM Certification Program is a course-based program consisting of three certification levels. Level 2 certification must normally be completed within two years of the selectee's employment start date.

Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Certification (DAWIA): You must have achieved DAWIA certification in Program Management or alternatively, you must have the ability to obtain the required certification for this position within 24 months of conversion to a career conditional appointment.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
