Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, organized and experienced attorney to join our MELS Matrimonial Unit. In this pivotal Senior Attorney role, you will work under the supervision of the Supervising Attorney (s) on the Unit. In the absence of the Supervising Attorney due to vacation, sick leave, etc., the Senior Attorney assumes the full responsibility of a Supervising Attorney.
Responsibilities
- Handling complex matrimonial law matters
- Reviewing cases of other team members to assure competent legal practice and adherence to prescribed practices and procedures
- Acting as a resource and providing training and mentorship to other attorneys and legal support staff
- Providing telephone advice
- Covering intake and court appearances and trials for staff
- Closing legal files on a time basis
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate; A member in good standing of the New York State Bar
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in matrimonial law
- Superior leadership, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain contemporaneous and detailed case management notes
- Ability to handle multiplex complex assignments with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in supervising, training and mentoring staff
- Ability to work with co-workers in a professional and non-confrontational manner
- Excellent legal research and legal writing skills
- Demonstrated trial and litigation experience
- Bi-lingual Spanish speakers encouraged to apply
Pay: $107,515.00 - $130,863.00 per year
