The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is the State Education Agency for the District of Columbia charged with raising the quality of education for all DC residents. OSSE is focused on sustaining, accelerating, and deepening the progress being made for the District’s 90,000 students. OSSE serves as the District’s liaison to the U.S. Department of Education and works closely with the District’s 470 early childhood facilities, 250 schools, 60 local education agencies (including DCPS and charter organizations), and community-based organizations to provide critical programming and resources to our stakeholders.
Role Description
This Supervisory Data and Strategic Initiatives Manager serves within the OSSE Division of Health and Wellness (H&W). The Division works with schools and community-based organizations to promote positive healthy behaviors and to improve the quality of life for children and youth in the District of Columbia. The division works with schools, child development facilities, and community-based organizations to provide capacity building, programming, data, as well as federal and local funding for health and nutrition programs.
The Data and Strategic Initiatives Manager catalyzes the division’s impact by developing data-driven strategy and implementing cross-cutting initiatives in support of the division’s goals at the intersection of health and education.
Qualifications
· Comprehensive knowledge and experience in education policy and/or public health policy analysis with an emphasis or concentration in data analysis.
· Four (4) years of demonstratable experience and skills working in health and/or data-related programs for educational institutions, including childcare facilities, public schools, charter schools, and/or nonpublic schools.
· One (1) or more years managing team projects, to include monitoring and tracking progress, providing feedback to team members, and reporting on deliverables.
· Superior writing and communication skills for drafting and communicating official state-level publications, policies, guidance, memorandum, and other related functions.
· Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance, presentations, and trainings.
· Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
