Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and licensed professional for the position of Director of Operations (COO) in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and D.C. area. The ideal candidate will have a strong supervisory or law enforcement background and a passion for leading by example.
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day security operations across multiple job sites, doing office hours and some admin work, building strong relationships with clients and local authorities, and ensuring that our teams maintain the highest standards of professionalism, compliance, and performance.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations to oversee our organization's operational functions and drive strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in management and operations, demonstrating exceptional leadership abilities to enhance efficiency and productivity across all departments. This role is pivotal in shaping the operational strategy and ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams to ensure effective execution of projects and initiatives.
- Lead and manage daily operations of multiple security teams and sites
- Provide training, supervision, and performance management for security staff
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, law enforcement, and emergency services
- Conduct regular site visits, audits, and inspections
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents, including after-hours support
- Address last-minute coverage changes (call-outs, shift swaps, no-shows, etc.)
- Be available to staff, clients, and supervisors 24/7/365
- Ensure staff are properly trained and equipped to handle their duties
- Monitor compliance with company policies, post orders, and industry regulations
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, training, and staff activities
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring processes are efficient and meet quality standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancement.
- Engage in senior leadership discussions to contribute to business development strategies and negotiation efforts.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and make data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless communication and operational alignment.
- Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for projects while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience in operations management, with a strong focus on strategic planning and project management.
- Demonstrated success in senior leadership roles, showcasing effective negotiation skills and business development acumen.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must pass background and drug screening (where applicable)
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, or military
- Possess or obtain State Security Officer License (DCJS, DC S/O, MD Guard Card or equivalent)
- CPR/First Aid Certification - Preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution abilities
- Capable of working under pressure and managing multiple priorities
- High School diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications are a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk and drive for extended periods
- Must be able to climb stairs, bend, twist, lift up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly
