Job Summary
Assists the Facilities Operations Manager in the day-to-day management of the organization. Conducts short and long-term planning along with the supervisor and leaders to address major and complex work operations. Participates in the establishment of production goals and major work schedules, developing cost and budget analysis or forecasts, and assists in in the determination of long-range manpower requirements. Serves as principal advisor and troubleshooter on all maintenance and repairs; responsible for the coordination and integration of activities in the fields of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and construction maintenance and repair. Areas of responsibilities include the maintenance and repair activities of all Saint Elizabeths Hospital facilities to include mechanical equipment and systems, electrical equipment and systems, water and waste water systems, plumbing systems, fire prevention and suppression systems, preventive maintenance and building facilities. Develops building inspection schedules and makes inspections. Serves as Contract Monitor ensuring that contractors provide quality work within allotted contractual provisions. Develops performance plans, evaluates performance, approves leave and recommends training, awards and disciplinary actions.
Qualifications
Candidate must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level, (MS-12). Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Licensures, Certifications And Other Requirements
A District of Columbia 1st Class Steam Boiler Operator’s License and
Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification is required
Education
Minimum Education Requirement
Must possess a high school diploma or a certificate of equivalency (GED)
Work Experience
Thorough knowledge and experience supervising the day-to-day facility operations to include building and maintenance repair, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and construction.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.
Tour of Duty: Monday thru Friday
8:15 am to 4:45 pm
Area of Consideration: Open to the Public
First Screening Date: February 10, 2026; And Every Two Weeks Thereafter
