Job Summary This position is located in the Department of Employment Services (DOES) Office of Public Affairs. The mission of DOES is to connect District residents, job seekers, and employers to opportunities and resources that empower fair, safe, effective working communities. The primary purpose of this position is to produce and maintain original content for the agency’s official digital profiles (Facebook, X, Instagram, Blue sky, LinkedIn and YouTube) and serve as the agency photographer and audio-visual technician. The role works with the creative staff using appropriate software to design and manipulate text copy, and graphic objects, producing informational materials for social media that inform appropriate audiences of the agency's policies, programs, services and activities.
Duties And Responsibilities
Develops communication strategies in support of the agency priorities while proactively engaging DOES programs to develop campaigns and messaging to best promote agency accomplishments and services. Within the area of responsibility, leads or facilitates the planning, drafting, and dissemination of a range of communications products, and contributes to periodic reviews of the effectiveness of communications efforts and contribute to communications strategy and plan development. Creates and develops multimedia content of customer stories, internal agency announcement videos, external promotional social videos, product marketing videos, and other enterprise-wide projects. Creates scripts, storyboards, and sets deadlines; works independently, as well as part of a team in sharing agency and program news, information, and success stories.
Writes and edits multimedia material and correspondence directed to internal and external customers, considering the target audience receiving the material, the objectives of information, and the acceptable journalistic standards of the Public Affairs office, as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications And Education
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Position Designation: This position has been designated as Security sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.
Residency Requirement: Applicants claiming “Residency Preference” will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment.
